Hey, Sorry it took me so long to sign up I was packed this week. You guys want to meet up tomorrow or Saturday? We can figure out a game-plan and figure out how to get everything started.

This weekend is chock-full of obligations, but I can tentatively propose a 1pm lunch at Uncle Sam's on Saturday.

I'd be fine with that - if everyone else is.
Does anybody know the procedure we have to go through to try and get it official?
Also we discuss the minor details such as names and such. I just put Pitt Rifle Club (Because I thought people might be a little more receptive than a 'shooting' or 'gun' club. I'm open for whatever we think is best. Maybe Pitt Pistol and Rifle Club?)

Does anybody know the procedure we have to go through to try and get it official? 10 full-time students and a faculty sponsor, plus the nonsense that's going to come with trying to create a student gun club. Also we discuss the minor details such as names and such. I just put Pitt Rifle Club (Because I thought people might be a little more receptive than a 'shooting' or 'gun' club. I'm open for whatever we think is best. Maybe Pitt Pistol and Rifle Club?) Personally, I like Pitt Rifle Club: it's concise, classy, and gets the point across.

I'm fine with later Sunday? Or Saturday? Austin can you do later Sunday? If not, we'll meet Saturday and just fill everyone else in.
Does anyone know of any professors that would be on board? I had a class with Dr. Michael Hummel, and he's the biggest pro-Army, pro-Gun guy there is.

No recommendations on professors but I did have a couple of thoughts on the club. Priorities, in order: 1 be safe 2 represent the shooting community as responsible, law abiding citizens 3 have fun 4 improve our firearms skills and knowledge 5 to a much more limited extent have a small number of competitions throughout the year
I figure to accomplish the above we could do on campus education and dry fire training events for most meetings, ranges then would be split between fun shoots, training sessions, and competitions.
Education could be something like selecting the right gun; fundamentals of shooting; local, state, and federal laws; etc. On campus training could be dime-washer drills, weapon presentation, disassembly-assembly, etc.
For the competitions I figure we could build up over the year to host several different shooting styles. For example start with small bore (.22LR) precision and plate shooting for the first match and build up to a full blown 3 gun match by this time next year. I also want to do a zombie theme match around Halloween but that's just me.
As far as names go, Pitt Rifle is probably just fine but part of me wants to go with the Boomstick club (reference Army of Darkness).
I know I threw a lot of stuff out there but other than 1&2 there's nothing I'm going to fall on my sword over. I just LOVE guns and am excited about getting this club started. But this should be YOUR club so don't let me ramrod anything through if any body doesn't like it.
Let me know about the meeting time.

Austin can you do later Sunday? I could do Sunday night at nine, nine-thirty or so. No recommendations on professors but I did have a couple of thoughts on the club. Priorities, in order: 1 be safe 2 represent the shooting community as responsible, law abiding citizens 3 have fun 4 improve our firearms skills and knowledge 5 to a much more limited extent have a small number of competitions throughout the year 4.5 advocate and increase responsible student gun ownership through occasional events aimed more at exposure than honing existing skills. To become official, we do eventually have to write and submit constitution.

Ok, lets do Sunday night. 9:30. How is the seating area outside Einsteins for everyone? We could slide a couple tables together. That or we could grab a classroom in the Cathedral.
Also I emailed a fellow shooter who started a club at another university - and he sent me a zip-file of everything we need to get started. (Constitution etc) So all we have to do is change the names and we're good to go.

I'm not sure if they're still doing it, but earlier in the semester, they were locking up Posvar at 9pm, so that leaves the Einsteins in Benedum or somewhere in the Cathedral. Personally, I'll be pretty hungry by then, so how does The O sound?

I forgot that Posvar is closed up early. I'm fine with the O, but sometimes it gets pretty packed at night. So either there or the Cathedral

Is everyone over 21? How about Hemingway's or Fuel and Fuddle to discuss it over a beer. Since we won't be packing alcohol isn't an issue.

Personally I'd like to initially meet somewhere a little more quiet where we can discuss details.
